Your eyes speak a lot about your health, as there is an old saying that eyes are the reflection of your soul or spirit. Therefore, it is very necessary for you to get your eyes examined from the ophthalmologist on yearly basis to rule out any internal diseases, which you might miss. Here are some important points to know that how your bad health can put an impact on eyes too.

1. Yellow spots in the eyes In cases of liver damage, your eye specialist may see tiny hemorrhages and yellow deposits dotting in your eyes, and may advice further eye tests to confirm the diagnosis. In diabetic retinopathy, a condition seen in diabetics affects your circulation in the eyes, which could lead to this condition of yellow spots.

2. Cloudy eyes If you are experiencing clouded vision in your eyes, you probably have a cataract. Most people get cataracts as they age, but you can get them when you are at your young age too. If you are young, both diabetes and a tumor too can lead to cataracts.

3. Dips and kinks in your eyes If your ophthalmologist notices anything abnormal with your eye, like kinks, dips or nicks in your eye's blood vessels, then this could indicate a warning sign of a stroke or heart attack in the near future. This could be due to the disturbance with your circulatory system, due to constriction of blood vessels.

4. The sleepy look Many times, you look sleepy to others; which could be due to droopy eyelids. In young children, a common factor is an underdeveloped eye muscle. Weak muscles, kidney cancer or stroke could also be the reason behind the lazy and sleepy eye. In an autoimmune disease called myasthenia gravis, you may have drooping eyes on both the sides. 5. Bumpy eyelids Bumpy eyelids could be due to a stye in a lower eyelid if you have itchy or painful eyes.

6. Bug eyes If people notice wide-eyed look in you, then you may be suffering from the common sign of Grave's disease. This condition is seen in hyperthyroidism wherein body produces an excess of thyroid hormones in the body. Along with the wide eyes, you might also notice an irregular heartbeat, unintentional weight loss, fatigue and a change in your menstrual cycle (for women) or erectile dysfunction (in men).

7. Floating spots/blurred vision In the presence of HIV/AIDS, there is inflammation on your retina or even bleeding that leads to vision loss. You may also yourself start noticing unusual blind spots, blurred vision or floating spots as you look around in your surroundings.
