Bad postures do not look great, but did you ever realize that it can really have a negative effect on your health? Here are the health risks involved due to the bad postures.

Back and Shoulder Pain This one is the most obvious side effect of having a poor posture. The slouching involved can lead to pain in tension in the upper back and shoulders and can even permanently cause a hump! Also, over-correcting for the posture can have consequences as well. When you pull the shoulders too far back this can lead your muscles to tense and cause stiffness.

Jaw pain and Headache When your posture is poor you may spend much of your time bending forward and this makes it more possible that you are going to contract your jaw. When the jaw clenches it causes the muscles in the face to tighten and this, in turn, results in jaw pain and headaches. Not to mention if you contract your jaw a lot, it can wear down the jaw joint, and it can cause even bigger and severe problems.

Gastrointestinal Issues Your intestines perform their own, highly complicated and difficult dance daily to move food through and provide your body with the nutrition it needs. If someone has poor posture, it can highly impact the movement of the intestines, so the gastrointestinal system might not function as well as it may.

Functioning of the lung Poor posture can also impact how much air one can take into their lungs while breathing. It makes perfect sense when one thinks about it that bending or leaning forward can have a negative effect on the lung function. The major disadvantage to this that when your lungs do not function properly, the other vital organs also do not receive the proper amount of oxygen. This can lead to shortness of breath and poor cognitive function or even worse vascular and heart disease. Talk to your doctor if you are experiencing problems linked with your posture.
