FIRST AID TIPS – IN CASE OF BLEEDING

Below given are some important tips to stop bleeding:

For minor Bleeding in case of small wound, cut or abrasion:

* Apply direct pressure on the cut or wound with a clean cloth or piece of gauze until bleeding stops.

* If the wound is on the arm or leg, raise limb above the heart, if possible, to slow down the bleeding.

* Gently clean the wound with soap and warm water.

* Protect the wound with antibiotic cream to reduce the chances of infection and cover it with a sterile bandage.

* Consult the physician for extra care.

For major bleeding in case of a major fall/ facial injury or road traffic accidents:

* Apply firm continuous pressure on the wound to stop bleeding.

* Elevate the affected part.

* Make the patient lie flat on the back with legs raised to slow down the bleeding.

* Keep the patient warm using blanket to cover or to lie on.

* Apply firm pressure with hands to stop the bleeding and apply dressing/gauze piece onto it. If earlier one gets soaked, add a fresh gauze piece by removing the soaked one.

* Call for nearest emergency service.
